The Day the Earth Stood Still

gort
Even though I can’t wait to see the new The Day the Earth Stood Still and see the updated Gort terrorize us with his planet love, the film will be overshadowed by the lameness of: Keanu Reeves.
No matter how many microbots Gort becomes, his shiny metal coolness will still be overpowered by the pure evil of Keanus’ acting.
Why can’t we just have a whole film of robot induced destruction and no Reeves? why…

I had never see this film. Just see the picture provided. Is it a black and white film?

Hi Joe, Yeah the original is a 1951 Classic, you can check it out here - The Day the Earth Stood Still 1951

Ha, that’s funny what you say about Keanu Reeves. I agree that there are movies out there where the actors make or break the movie. There are also times when it’s the opposite - like why is this “good” actor in a sub-par movie?

I haven’t seen the film yet, but I don’t think keanu reeves could be that lame. he is a good actor, and if the film is good probably keanu acting will be too. i think your opinion about keanu reeves is clouding your judgement.

Well, if keanu reeves sucks, why were the matrix movies to successful? Of course, i agree with Amanda, actors do make or break the movie. I believe that its up to the director and his ability to portray his vision of the movie, otherwise with out that its just another of the same old, same old.

Well, I think the Matrix is a successful movie because it has an excellent concept behind the film and the ideas are thought provoking…….the face that Keanu is in it is neither here nor there. The Matrix 2 - not so good - oh, controversial…………….Keanu has the same facial expressions for surprise, sadness and fear. Never send a human to do a robots’ work!
I do think that some actors are outstanding regardless of the film, Samuel L Jackson and Christopher Walken -been in some bad ones but still shine through.
Anyway, so glad to see Transformers 2 - really liked the first one and left the cinema thinking every vehicle I saw was a potential transformer ‘robot in disguise’……..besides I kind of thought Optimus Prime was hot……………….
